Gas Hot Water Heaters

Types And Models Of Gas Water Heaters

Gas hot water heaters come in all sizes such as the power meiser by Kenmore that holds 50 gallons of water and is a high efficiency unit with an energy saving pilot. This well built water heater is glass lined with safety measures implemented through and through. No other brand can compare to the Kenmore. It uses natural gas and costs only $520. Another brand, the GE outdoor tankless saves up to 25% a month on the utility bill, provides endless hot water on demand, and takes up no space inside the home because it is mounted on the outside or inside wall. This item earns the Energy Star seal and is for sale wherever GE appliances are sold.

Tankless gas hot water heaters such as the Rheem 66 gallon allows unlimited hot water on demand. This energy efficient model used indoor vent for rooms such as the bathroom and offers 6.6 gallons of hot water per minute. The Rheem comes with a remote and a connector which will make two units serve as one. A blower is just one of the pluses, along with the choice to install horizontally or vertically. There are units for 1-2 bathrooms and more. Nothing says high quality like a Rheem and it is a great space saver too. Check out their website for more information.

The AO Smith company has years of experience with ensuring the safety of their gas hot water heaters, still many who own their products have given mostly negative reviews. For instance, the Promax high efficiency offers a safety ignition to prevent vapors which in some water heaters could cause flash fires or explosions. They come with the energy star seal too. But, it seems the ignition commonly malfunctions, and although not unsafe, it is very costly to repair. More popular brands such as Kenmore and GE received satisfactory reviews. However, when it came to instant water heaters such as the Racold and Usha Lexus, all reviews were positive. In fact heating the water only took 5 minutes on average. One customer was very happy with the automatic shut off of the tap. This greatly prevents accidental water heating.

By Gary Skinner
A good hot water heater used to last about 20 years. Now...not so much. Now warranties will typically be expired after about five years. I've been in business long enough to remember when a company would warranty their product for 10, and even then, they lasted well beyond the warranty.
